Kennedy Space Center Day Camp Opens for KidsMay 7, 2013 By: Newswire
Camp Kennedy Space Center day camp in Cape Canaveral, Florida is now open for kids ages 8 to 14, teaching kids through interactive attractions about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
In honor of the June 29th opening of the new attraction at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), the Space Shuttle Atlantis, this year’s camp theme is “Atlantis: Celebrate the Journey.” Campers will learn first-hand about the engineering marvel of the space shuttle through a host of multi-media presentations and more than 60 interactive exhibits and high-tech simulators. Campers who visit June 10 through June 28th will receive an exclusive sneak peak of the Atlantis attraction.
KSC curriculum includes hands on STEM activities, like a simulated space shuttle mission where campers deploy satellites, dock and transfer supplies to the International Space Station and perform scientific experiments while in simulated orbit. They will also learn about astronaut training programs and the risks and rewards of space flight. Finally, campers will work as a team to compete in the Angry Birds Challenge, which incorporates concepts of human space exploration and physics.
The camp runs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and all campers receive a Camp KSC certificate, pass to the KSC Visitor Center and specially designed Atlantis-themed Camp KSC shirt. Tuition is $295 per week plus tax, and includes lunch and snacks.
