Miami Beach Landmark Shuts Down for Renovations

The Fontainebleau Resort on Miami Beach shut down the original 876-room resort portion of the property for a $4 million, two-year-long renovation and expansion this week. Former real-estate developer and hotelier Stephen Muss, the property's longtime owner, sold the resort last year to Florida-based Turnberry Associates. The Fontainebleau's new four-star, 462-suite tower will remain online; it opened in 2005.
