Hawaii posted a positive April, with increases in the number of visitors arriving as well as the amount of money they spent in the islands, according to the latest monthly report issued by the state Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism. Spending was up by 14.9 percent to almost $900 million compared with April 2005, while arrivals rose by 10.7 percent. Travelers on domestic flights represented the lion's share of the increase, according to the DBEDT report. Also contributing to the uptick was the fact that Easter fell in April this year; it was in March last year.
