For the second year in a row, the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and The Travel + Hospitality Group teamed up to help “charge up” bookings to Las Vegas. Launched during Luxury Travel Expo 2010, the second edition of Charged Up Vegas tasked agents with booking as many clients to Las Vegas as they could during the month of December. Bookings needed to be made in December for travel anytime between December 1, 2010, and February 28, 2011.
The incentive to the agents who booked the most was a $10,000 prize pool. All agents needed to do was sign up on the program website and register. Once they were registered, they were required to go back in whenever they made a booking to Las Vegas and enter a few details. Agents could enter flight bookings, hotel bookings, show tickets, tours and rental cars.

The top winner, for the second year in a row, was Kevin Nguyen of Pinnacle Travel Services, who netted a $5,000 gift card. Jennifer Bychowksy of DBL Travel came in second, earning a $2,500 card. Third through seventh place finishers, in order, were Sue Petersen, Travel America Vacations; Nicole Little, High Plains Travel; Sharon Andersen, TierOne Travel Calgary Macleod; Mel Nobel, The Travel Guy; and Kristine Kaiser, Travel and Transport. The awards were given out in a special ceremony in Mesa Grill at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas.
More than $1 million in bookings for Las Vegas were made during December last year through Charged Up Vegas. Keep an eye out for the 2011 edition, whose details will be announced over the next few months. During a survey of the participants, 52 percent said that the program motivated them to influence their clients to go to Las Vegas.
