CityCenter to Deliver Up-to-the-Minute Customized Guestrooms

September 23, 2008 By: Mark Rogers

MGM MIRAGE announced that its $9 billion CityCenter will offer technologically advanced guest rooms when it opens next year. Guest rooms at ARIA Resort & Casino, The Harmon Hotel, Spa & Residences and Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas (approximately 4,800 rooms) will have Control4 advancements such as curtains that automatically part and lights that automatically go on when a guest enters the room.

Instead of waking to an alarm, guests can choose to awaken gradually through controlled temperature, preferred music or the opening of the curtains. A one-touch button changes conditions in the room, such as a "good night" button that turns everything off, closes curtains and turns on the privacy notification. Similarly, another button makes the room over for entertaining with custom music lists and other options. MGM also claims that its in-room Internet service will be eight times faster than what's available in any hotel room today.
