Las Vegas has reached a major milestone with more than 40 million visitors in 2014. The city has had continued tourism growth over 10 consecutive months.

With just two weeks left in the calendar year, Sin City has surpassed its record for annual visitation. Previously, the record for most visitors in a calendar year was set in 2012 with 39 million.

More direct flights from Mexico and Canada to Las Vegas may have helped to increase tourism.

Las Vegas celebrated breaking the record by giving away various “Only in Vegas” experiences. Las Vegas stars and entertainers handed out the prizes to tourists. The giveaways included room upgrades at the Hard Rock and Casino, dinner at CRUSH, makeovers and more.
