Sahara Hotel & Casino to Get Revamped

One of the last remaining original properties on the Las Vegas Strip will soon have new ownership. SBE Entertainment Group along with its partner, Stockbridge Real Estate Funds, will acquire the Sahara Hotel & Casino from Gordon Gaming Corporation. A spokesman for SBE said that the terms of the deal will not be disclosed, nor could he gauge when the deal will actually go through. However, upon closing, SBE said it is committed to reinvigorating the property for a new generation of travelers. Built in 1952, the Sahara is the northern-most resort on The Strip, and was the setting for the original "Ocean's Eleven" film with Frank Sinatra. SBE will manage the hotel and food and beverage side, while Larry Woolf's Navegante Group will operate Sahara's casino under a lease agreement.
