There was a time when the barbershop was an integral part of life. So men, rejoice. There are several places in Las Vegas where hot lather, even hotter towels and the seductive scraping of the straight razor are becoming increasingly popular.
Take the Art of Shaving, for instance. In the Mandalay Place shopping pavilion, the shop offers an array of men’s grooming products and accessories, as well as the Barber Spa. This is the place for traditional barber services. For a truly memorable and relaxing experience, the Royal Shave is the ultimate gateway to relaxation. The 45-minute treatment starts with a hot towel. When the pores open up, pre-shave oil is applied to soften the beard before warm lather is applied. Men get shaved not once, but twice. Then an after-shave mask is applied to replenish lost nutrients. There is also an after-shave balm applied. The treatment costs $55. Farther up The Strip at Bellagio, the Spa & Salon has its own old-style barbershop. Created in a separate room from other treatments, it’s designed to have a retro aesthetic. Rich woods set a regal tone while a classic barber chair completes the look. A variation of the Royal Shave ($60 for 45 minutes) is also offered here as is a Traditional Shave ($40 for 30 minutes), which includes a facial massage, warmed lather, and a straight razor shave followed by an aftershave balm. The Aromatherapy Skin Treatment ($50 for 45 minutes) was created to bring life back to the face through rejuvenating skin. With just two chairs, it’s critical to make a reservation in advance. Meanwhile, Wynn Las Vegas has both a Barber Shop and the opportunity to get an in-room shave (for an additional fee). The Salon offers a variety of men’s grooming services such as a Hot Lather Shave ($65), a Beard Trim with Shave ($80) or a haircut ($85). The Deluxe Hot Lather Shave includes a Paraffin Hand Treatment ($85). They use Truefitt & Hill products, which have been popular for more than 200 years.
