Harrah's Atlantic City will unveil the first phase of the property's $550 million upgrade and expansion project on Sunday when a new 620-seat contemporary buffet and a retail promenade are revealed; gaming space expansion will follow this summer and a new hotel tower will open next year. 
The hotel's new Waterfront Buffet will include seven culinary stations from around the world—American, Italian, Asian Wok and Mongolian Barbecue, Seafood, Rodizio, Sushi and Dim Sum—served in a space with 22-foot ceilings, 60 chandeliers and private dining areas.
Harrah's existing Fantasea Buffet will be converted into additional gaming space that will allow for 400 slot machines, 10 table games and a player's lounge. The casino floor will be expanded by 16,500 square feet for a total of 165,700 square feet by summer 2007.
The Waterfront Shops at Harrah's will include women's clothing boutiques, a fine jewelry store, home décor and gift shops and a Sony Innovations store. A men's clothing store will open in July. All items sold within the retail promenade's new shops may be purchased with Harrah's Total Rewards Points. Total Rewards members will receive special discounts.
The centerpiece of Harrah's expansion project will be a new 961-room, 44-story hotel tower with eight super suites and 104 suites appointed with limestone floors, freestanding showers, fireplaces, in-room theaters and plasma TVs. Upon completion in mid-2008, the new tower will increase Harrah's hotel capacity by nearly 60 percent, for a total of 2,272 rooms.
