Hyatt Unveils New Property by Gateway to the WestJuly 2, 2009 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor
The 910-room Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront at the Gateway Arch proceeded with its grand opening Wednesday after completing a $63 million renovation that included a top-to-bottom transformation. The hotel had Cardinals' baseball player Kyle McClellan assist with its official opening by helping raise the Hyatt flag for the first time alongside the American flag.
"We are thrilled to have received such strong community support and are pleased we have been able to give back to the community with the creation of 100 new jobs," said Managing Director Greg Saunders. "With the hotel's transformation, one of the city's crown jewels has been reborn and this location has been re-established as St. Louis' premier address. We look forward to helping bring more business to downtown St. Louis and further establishing the city as one of the Midwest's top destinations. We're off to a good start as we serve as host hotel for this year's Major League Baseball All-Star Game."
The hotel features newly designed rooms, with 350 of those offering Gateway Arch views; three full-service restaurants - RED Kitchen Bar, Ruth's Chris and Brewhouse; a Starbucks; a StayFit Hyatt health club and 83,000 square feet of meeting space, including an 18th-floor terrace with views of the famed Gateway Arch. Opening room rates start at $63 per room, per night to celebrate the $63 million renovation.
The rooms feature amenities including 37-inch flat screen TVs with digital videos, a new iHome clock radio featuring an iPod docking station, an oversized desk, Guestek high-speed internet access and a marble bathroom.
Business travelers will appreciate the Regency Club guest rooms, self-service Front Desk kiosks, PDA Check-In, 24-hour automated business center and WiFi access throughout public areas.
For health-conscious business and leisure travelers, the hotel features a new 3,000-square-foot, 24-hour health club. Located on the lobby level, the facility will offer floor-to-ceiling windows with street-level views of downtown.
