Vietnam’s Caravelle Hotel Plans Makeover

April 25, 2008 By: Mark Rogers

The Caravelle Hotel is one of Vietnam’s iconic properties, made famous during the days when Ho Chi Minh City was still named Saigon. The Caravelle Hotel plans a top-to-bottom overhaul of guest rooms and suites as well as a slate of environmentally-friendly green initiatives. This follows a complete revamp of its ground-floor dining venue, Nineteen, and a recasting of its signature restaurant as Reflections. The hotel’s Saigon Saigon Bar, once a famous watering hole for war correspondents, has been voted “Best Bar” in the city. The bar has live music and a birds-eye balcony view of the city below.

Notable VIP guests at the hotel include former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Britain’s Princess Anne, and movie stars Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser (while filming The Quiet American). During the Vietnam War, the Caravelle Hotel housed the headquarters of broadcasting companies such as CBS and NBC.

The 335-room hotel is the city’s leading international five-star hotel, with a great location in the center of the business, shopping, market and entertainment district.

The Caravelle Hotel general manager is John Gardner ([email protected] 84-8) 8 243 999). Agents with special requests are encouraged to reach out to Sheena Shee, director of sales & marketing ([email protected], 84 8 8 243 999). Visit
