With a series of deadly wildfires raging across Australia, travel brands are looking for ways to help.
The Intrepid Foundation, the not-for-profit arm of Australia-based tour operator and B-Corp company Intrepid Travel, launched a new project to support the Red Cross Bushfire Emergency Appeal. The organization pledged to match all donations up to AUD $100,000, doubling donors' impact, and then increased the target to AUD $200,000 when its previous goal was hit. AUD $249,601 has been raised thus far, with 100 percent of funds going to the Red Cross to offer essential crisis assistance and psychological care, and assist evacuees with everything from emergency accommodation to locating missing loved ones.
Etihad Airways has pledged to waive flight change fees for Australian residents affected by the ongoing national emergency. Some 16,000 Australian nationals live and work in the U.A.E. and Etihad itself proudly employs more than 300 Australians. In addition, Etihad is working with Emirates Red Crescent to raise funds within the U.A.E. to help support bushfire relief.
