Sneak Peek: New Baha Mar Mega-Resort in The Bahamas (SLIDESHOW)

The new, $3.5 billion Baha Mar mega-resort is set to open in December 2014, and ahead of the opening Travel Agent has received an insider look at the new resort's design renderings.

The new resort will have 2,000 hotel rooms in four branded hotels: one from Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, one from Mondrian, one from Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and The Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, the resort's centerpiece. Above is a look at the design for The Baha Mar Casino & Hotel and the Rosewood property.

Baha Mar will also have a 100,000 square foot casino and 200,000 square feet of retail and entertainment experiences, including upscale shopping boutiques, Bahamian arts and crafts galleries, chef-branded restaurants and nightclubs. The resort also plans an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.

Back in October Travel Agent got a chance to speak with the development team for the resort and learn how it will differ from The Bahamas' other mega-resort, Atlantis. Baha Mar will aim for a mature feel than Atlantis, resort representatives said, targeting the adult segment.
