American Cruise Lines Adds National Parks Post-Cruise Packages

For 2022, American Cruise Lines (ACL) has added three- and seven-night “National Parks Post-Cruise Packages" as an option for guests sailing on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Cruisers can extend their vacation post-cruise and head to Wyoming and Montana with guided explorations through up to three national parks—Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

Commissionable to travel advisors, the packages include a private guide for guests throughout the journey, specialized local guides and park rangers for daily experiences. Both the three- and seven-night packages also include meals, concierge luggage service and private transportation to nearby airports.

National Park Post-Cruise Packages

For example, the new, seven-night National Parks Post-Cruise Package begins in Clarkston, WA, first with a jet boat adventure through Hells Canyon and lunch at a private ranch within the canyon. That’s followed by an overnight visit to the lakefront town of Coeur D’Alene, ID, followed by two days of personalized exploration in Glacier National Park, which has glacier-carved peaks, ancient forests and turquoise lakes.

Next, guests will travel onward for two days of discovery in Yellowstone National Park, including a visit to Old Faithful. Yellowstone offers colorful geyser basins, waterwalls, lakes and wildlife. Then guests will head for Grand Teton National Park to admire the scenic views and look for bison.

This package also features a two-night stay in Jackson, WY, situated at the base of the Grand Tetons. This destination is known for its rodeos, shopping, western art galleries and dramatic alpine scenery.

Separately, ACL’s three-night National Parks Post-Cruise Package also follows select Columbia & Snake Rivers cruises, and includes the Hells Canyon Jet Boat Adventure in Clarkston, WA; an overnight in Coeur d’Alene, ID; and a guided exploration of Glacier National Park.

Fleet of Small Ships

American’s 2022 domestic cruise season offers more than 35 itineraries that touch 33 U.S. states. The small-ship line's fleet of 15 ships (many new Modern Riverboats plus other river and small coastal ships) carry 100 to 190 passengers.

More new ships are on the way too, as several new Modern Riverboats will debut this year. In addition, the line is undertaking "Project Blue" to construct a new class of coastal hybrid-catamarans. The first of those will launch in 2023.

American also offers domestic flat-rate airfare, complimentary pre-cruise hotel stays, and a one-night, post-cruise package on select 2022 itineraries.
