Hotel Happenings

AMResorts, provider of sales, marketing and brand management services for Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts and Secrets, Dreams, Now and Sunscape Resorts & Spas, recently announced the introduction of Sunscape Resorts & Spas in the popular destination of Curacao this fall with the debut of Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino

As of this past summer, AMResorts assumes sales, marketing and management duties of Princess Beach Resort and Casino-Curacao, a member of the Lionstone family of hotels and previously Breezes Curacao—while renovations will take place to make the necessary adjustments and bring the property up to the brand’s Unlimited-Fun standards.

The majority of renovations will include modifications to the guest rooms, new decor in the existing six restaurants and the spa, as well as enhancements to the theater, ballroom, wedding chapel and fitness center. The official rebranding was completed in November.

The Amazonia Tour
The Amazonia Tour is the newest attraction on Curacao and features dozens of handmade Maya, Aztec, Inca and Arawak sculptures.

The five-story, 341-room Sunscape Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino will offer clients the benefits of Sunscape Resorts & Spas’ signature Unlimited-Fun vacation concept, which provides limitless access to gourmet à la carte dining and premium beverage brands, 24-hour dining options, countless daytime activities, live evening entertainment, fitness facilities and more.

The resort will also have two swimming pools, a full-service spa, salon, fitness center and flexible meeting spaces. By 2013, the resort will include the brand’s signature Explorer’s Club for Kids and Core Zone Teen’s Club, Coco Café, Desires nightclub and a new swim-up bar. Agents can reach out to General Manager Jeanette Hooi-Bonet ([email protected]) with any queries.

Pen Resort B.V. has announced its plans to develop an oceanfront property of roughly 247,000 square feet into a luxury resort on the island of Curacao to be completed by 2016.

Situated on a unique beachfront location in the capital of Willemstad, the future Pen Resort Hotel will be a luxury resort with an all-inclusive concept. The hotel will have 313 rooms. On the property there will be five restaurants and three bars for enjoyment, a full-service spa and gym and many other amenities for all ages.

Additionally, Pen Resort B.V. plans to restore Curacao’s 19th-century landmark of “Cerro Bonito Mansion” to be used as an elegant casino and restaurant. They will also restore the historical “Kas di Pueblo,” which will have suites complimented by butler service and where meeting and banquet facilities will be located.

The resort will consist of contemporary Dutch Caribbean architecture, where traditional 19th century buildings will complement one another with fresh vibrant architectural designs. The Pen Resort will be only 30 minutes away from Curacao’s International Airport and only steps away from the center of the capital, Willemstad. Unfortunately, resort representatives could not provide Travel Agent with an agent liaison at the hotel because the resort is still a few years away from opening.

The Amazonia Tour is the newest attraction on the island and features dozens of handmade Maya, Aztec, Inca and Arawak sculptures. The Amazonia Tour consists of rain forest, temple ruins, ponds, caves, pyramids and more than 130 types of live exotic animals. A guided tour of approximately one hour will take guests back to the past and teach them all there is to know about the animals, the sculptures and the buildings of ancestors in Mesoamerica. The tour examines the Maya, Inca, Aztec and Arawak way of life, culture and habitat.
