New Artists Added to 2023 “Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival” Lineup

The “Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival” (May 5-14, 2023) will include headline performances from 17-time Grammy Award winner Sting and dancehall/reggae icon Shaggy, besides many globally recognized performers. The updated lineup is as follows:

  • Kick-Off (May 5) – Caribbean genres with some of the biggest names from the region headlined by reggae superstar Shenseea and Kes the Band
  • Entertainment & Community Jazz (May 6-9) – Explore authentic Saint Lucian culture and people through an eclectic mix of local events
  • Kingdom Gospel Night (May 10) – A showcase of praise and worship headlined by multiple Grammy Award winner Cece Winans, Nigerian contemporary gospel artist Sinach; and Saint Lucia’s Special Blend and Emrand Henry
  • Pure Jazz (May 11) – Grammy winner, pianist and composer Gustavo Casenave and special tribute to Luther François, the godfather of Saint Lucia jazz
  • Caribbean Fusion (May 12) – Featuring Buju Banton, Bunji Garlin, Fay Ann Lyons and more
  • World Beats (May 13) – Featuring Kizz Daniel, CKay, Ayra Starr and Joeboy; performances from the best in Zouk; Kassav, Latin jazz salsa with Alfredo Naranjo, and Saint Lucian artists Kayo, Michael Robinson and the Southern medley of musicians, Kalbas
  • The Ultimate Celebration and Culmination on Mother’s Day (May 14) – Sting and Shaggy will headline the evening; Saint Lucian talent will include Ronald Boo Hinkson, Barbara Cadet, Teddyson John and Ace Loctor

Starting May 5, under the theme “Art and the City,” there will be community-based events across the island, focusing on visual art, literary art, theater, fashion, an Icon Series, craft and souvenir markets, besides events at Derek Walcott Square, Pointe Seraphine, Constitution Park and Serenity Park. The calendar of arts activities includes:

  • Theater Arts & Folktales (May 7 ) – Priced at $19 for adults, and $8 for children
  • Literary Arts and Spoken Word (May 8) – Featuring Head Phunk ($15)
  • Big Pan Project (May 9) – Select venues throughout the city, culminating at Derek Walcott Square (Free)
  • Lights, Camera, Fashion (May 10) – The Heart of the City ($60; VIP $100)
  • National Cultural Icon Series (May 11) – Featuring Luther François at Pigeon Island Park ($75)
