Vacation.com Conference: Expansion in Canada

At its 10th Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Vacation.com announced an anticipated continuation in growth of member agencies in Canada, naming Christine James, county manager, Canada, who will report to Steve Tracas, CEO and president.

James, a nine-year veteran of Vacation.com’s Canadian operations, will have total responsibility for all aspects of the Canadian marketplace, including industry relations, membership renewal and Canadian Business Development Managers (BDM). James joined Vaction.com in 1999 and has served as director of national sales and most recently as senior director of industry relations.

The move will allow Vacation.com’s Canadian staff to focus more on Canadian member agencies, Tracas said. Vacation.com, already a force in the Canadian market, sees members benefiting from new programs and preferred suppliers.

WestJet Vacations and Tour East are both new Vacation.com suppliers serving the Canadian market. The Vacation.com Mobile Training Unit will also travel to Canada to support member agencies.

Tracas said that Vacation.com preferred supplier revenue produced by Canadian members has more than tripled over the past year and that the Vacation.com’s partnership with Uniglobe in Canada has significantly strengthened the network.

Under the agreement with Uniglobe, Uniglobe’s Canadian agencies can take advantage of Vacation.com’s leisure tools such as Vacation.com’s “Engagement” program direct marketing. In turn, Vacation.com members can participate in Uniglobe’s leading air incentive programs.

Vacation.com’s desk top communications portal has also been updated for ease of use and Canadian agents SIREV booking platform now displays Vacation.com preferred suppliers. Visit www.agentnet.com.
