Alaskan Dream Cruises Bringing Back the Family Cruise in July

Owned by an Alaska Native Tlingit family, small-ship cruise line Alaskan Dream Cruises is bringing back the "True Alaskan Family Cruise" in 2023, an itinerary that hasn’t been offered since 2018.

The six-day family adventure departs from Juneau, the state capital, on July 1 aboard the 49-passenger Admiralty Dream. Opening with an Alaska-style feast and beach bonfire at the company’s Orca Point Lodge, before cruising through the scenic and pristine Tracy Arm and into the communities of Petersburg and Wrangell in time for Independence Day events and fireworks, the itinerary spends an equal amount of time sailing through stunning glacial fjords and remote bays, ideal for exploration by kayak and skiff. Guests can expect ample wildlife viewing and hiking opportunities as well.

The True Alaskan Family Cruise is geared toward multigenerational groups and families and will feature onboard youth expedition leaders who lead activities, exploration and educational programs about Alaska. Young travelers will be provided a custom Adventure Guidebook, in a quest to “become a True Alaskan.” All guests will also have the chance to brave the frigid Alaska waters and become a member of the prestigious Killer Whale Club.

The cruise ends in Sitka, the homeport of Alaskan Dream Cruises. Good to know: For families who book a third or fourth guest in their stateroom, the fare is reduced by 25 percent for additional travelers. Families who book a second stateroom can expect a 50 percent discount on the second room if it is of equal or lesser value.

Cruise fares are per person based on double occupancy and include accommodations on the ship, all meals during the sailing, scheduled shore excursions, airport transfers, use of recreational equipment, a complimentary glass of wine or beer with dinner and exceptional onboard services. All alcoholic beverages are included with Deluxe and Suite bookings. Itinerary details can be found online at www.alaskandreamcruises.com.
