Atlas Ocean Voyages Adds Two Seven-Night Antarctica Expeditions

Atlas Ocean Voyages will operate a three-ship fleet of expedition yachts sailing for the first time its Antarctica expeditions during the upcoming 2023-24 season. Two newly announced seven-night voyages on the World Voyager departing December 7 and 19 offer an abbreviated opportunity to explore the region, bypassing the Drake Passage by air in one direction, allowing for more time to explore the continent. From November 2023 through March 2023, Atlas will offer over 40 seven- to 14-night voyages, departing round-trip from Ushuaia, Argentina, aboard the World NavigatorWorld Traveller and World Voyager yachts.

Two "Drake Fly & Sail Expeditions" allow guests to bypass the Drake Passage and embark or debark directly from King George Island on the Antarctic peninsula:

  • "Drake Fly & Sail Expedition," departing on December 7, 2023 aboard World Voyager, will sail one-way from Ushuaia to King George Island for a seven-night journey. An additional complimentary one-night pre-hotel stay in Buenos Aires, a one-way private charter jet service from Buenos Aires, a one-way return air service to Punta Arenas, and a one-night post-hotel stay in Punta Arenas are all included.

For the more intrepid traveler, two longer 14-night expeditions bookend the season with visits to South Georgia, the South Sandwich Islands or the Falkland Islands:

  • "Antarctic Adventurer Expedition," departing on November 6, 2023 aboard World Navigator, will sail roundtrip from Ushuaia and includes private charter jet service from Buenos Aires and a one-night pre-cruise hotel stay.
  • "Wild Falklands and Argentina Expedition," departing on March 15, 2024 aboard World Navigator, will also sail roundtrip from Ushuaia with planned calls to the East and West Falkland Islands and visits to South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands. It includes roundtrip private charter jet service from Buenos Aires and a one-night pre-cruise hotel stay.

During the Antarctica expeditions, guests will explore such destinations as Neko Harbour, Deception Island's caldera, and Brown Bluff at the peninsula’s northern tip. Crossing into the Antarctic Circle, they will have the opportunity to spot marine wildlife, including several species of penguins, seals and whales. The yachts' Water's Edge observation deck, offering wrap-around heated benches, allows guests to observe Antarctic marine wildlife from a vantage point close to the waterline.
