Avalon Adds Flexible Dining Program for 2019

Avalon Waterways is introducing a new flexible dining options for its 2019 river cruises. Called FlexDining, the new program will allow guests to dine at multiple venues like Panorama Bistro or the Sky Grill for breakfast lunch and dinner, as well as take advantage of open dining times, more two-top tables for couples, bar service on the Sky Deck and daily night fare, on request, at the bar.

Guests will also be able to pick from additional healthy food options incorporating local ingredients as part of the Avalon Fresh program, which was introduced in 2017 as part of a partnership with rising culinary stars Leo and Karl Wrenkh. As part of FlexDining, Avalon is inviting guests to choose the onboard dining venue – and times – that suit their mood, from a breezy al fresco lunch at the Sky Grill and less formal “sit-down” atmosphere of the Panorama Bistro to an elegant, four-course dinner in the glass-walled dining room.

The new flexible dining program is part of a number of new offerings on tap for Avalon Waterways in 2019, including new Adventure Hosts on river cruises in Europe. The new hosts, who will be based in a new onboard Adventure Center, can help travelers with various activities like checking out a bike for a scenic ride through town; grabbing a Nordic walking stick for hiking; or booking kayaking excursions or complimentary fitness classes on the Sky Deck. Hosts will be able to provide guests with gear, maps and other assistance for travelers looking for active pursuits on and off the ship.
