Celebrity Cruises has announced that the line has acquired two white mushrooms weighing a total of 700 grams at the World White Truffle Auction in Grinzane Cavour, Italy. The line plans to showcase the mushrooms at exclusive onboard dining events.
The white truffle is almost solely found in the Piedmont region of Italy, and it is only available for a few months of the year.
Celebrity Cruises Executive Chef John Suley will use the truffles to create an exclusive dining experience onboard Celebrity Equinox during a 10-night Caribbean cruise departing on Friday, November 21, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Truffle-themed dinners will be available onboard Celebrity ships for select Caribbean sailings in late November and early December. The winning delicacies will also be featured at the James Beard Foundation's James Beard House in New York on Monday, November 24, for a special truffle-and-wine-pairing event.
