Emerald Waterways Adds New EmeraldACTIVE Excursions to 2018 Itineraries

Launched in 2016 by Emerald Waterways, EmeraldACTIVE Excursions provide guests the opportunity to participate in some sort of athletic activity on their daily shore excursions. For the 2018 cruise season, Emerald Waterways announced 17 new EmeraldACTIVE excursions and inclusions for nine of the cruise line's European itineraries.

New excursions for 2018 include: a canoeing trip in Pocinho, Portugal, biking tours through Vienna, Bernkastle and Hoorn; and a trek to Castle Hill in Budapest. Guests can also participate in an onboard yoga class on Portugal and France sailings.

    • Guided city tour of Amsterdam by foot passing through the main sights of the city center at a fast walking pace

  • Guided bike tour to Glun
    • Take a group bike ride along the Rhone River
    • Ride the Via Rhona cycle path for return trip to Tournon
  • Hoorn biking on your own
    • Map is provided with a marked bike route
  • Koblenz biking on your own
    • Map is provided with a marked bike route
  • Guided bike tour from Tournus to Macon
    • Guests will be dropped off in Tournus
    • Ride along the green path, part of the Burgundy by Bike trail system
    • One stop for a short break will be made
  • Veere biking tour
  • Hike to Wertheim Castle
    • After the tour of Miltenberg, guests will be transferred by coach to Wertheim
    • 30-minute uphill walk
    • 10-15 minutes to enjoy the views

Keeping in line with Emerald Waterways’ nearly all-inclusive pricing structure, all EmeraldACTIVE Excursions are offered to guests at no additional charge, the cruise line said.
