When Holland America Line sends Volendam into drydock durng December, the ship will receive 21 new Lanai staterooms, which will replace existing outside staterooms.
Separately, the ship's suites and certain other stateroom categories including the Lanai staterooms will receive updated bathrooms. The line also will add Mix, the line's contemporary bar space with three separate venues, to Volendam.

New Lanai Staterooms
The new Lanai staterooms will have direct sliding-door access to the Lower Promenade, a wrap-around teak walking deck; each Lanai stateroom will also have reserved deck chairs. The sliding doors will have one-way mirrored coating for guest privacy.
"Volendam’s itineraries in Alaska and other scenic parts of the world are ideal for direct promenade deck access and the enhanced views of the popular Lanai layout,” said Richard Meadows, executive vice president of sales, marketing and guest relations, Holland America.
With the conversion of existing outside staterooms to the new Lanai accommodations, Volendam’s guest capacity of 1,432 will not change. The line previously added Lanai staterooms to Maasdam, Rotterdam and Veendam.
New Suite Bathrooms
Holland America will also update bathrooms in all suites; they'll receive whirlpool bathtubs, stone vanities, lighted mirrors, Grohe fixtures, floors, walls and sinks.
Certain other stateroom categories, including the Lanai staterooms, will receive new bathroom appointments and walk-in showers.
New Contemporary Bar Mix
Volendam's centrally located bars will be reconfigured to feature Mix, a space that incorporates three specialty theme bars: Martinis, Champagne and Spirits & Ales. "Mix presents a stylish multi-themed venue for our guests to mingle and enjoy themselves," said Meadows.
Martinis serves 19 Grey Goose martinis elegantly offered in individual shakers as well as a full range of cocktails. The bubbly flows at Champagne, which offers a selection of 20 champagnes and sparkling wines. Spirits & Ales features an international selection of beers, premium whiskeys and brandies.
Other Holland America (www.hollandamerica.com) ships that already have Mix are Maasdam, Rotterdam, Ryndam, Statendam and Veendam.
