Hurtigruten Introduces New Theme Cruises

Hurtigruten is offering seven new theme cruises in 2008 and 2009 on seven-day northbound, six-day southbound and 12-day roundtrip sailings between Bergen and Kirkenes along the coast of Norway. Cruise fares range from $949 to $3,049 per person. Hurtigruten is also offering single supplement rates for as little as 25 percent over standard rates on select cruises.

That will come in handy for one of the theme cruises, "Singles at Sea," which combines workshop activities with nighttime dancing and games. Other themes include: "Climb Your Own Everest," which offers insight into the culture and history of the Himalayas; "Springtime Awakening," a wellness-based theme cruise; "Virtuoso Classical Cruises," a classical music cruise; "The Big Bands are Back," highlighting the music of Benny Goodman and Jimmy Dorsey; "Arctic Birding Safari," which brings expert naturalists and ornithologists aboard; and "Red Hatters' Northern Lights & Fun-Filled Nights," featuring events for the society of women over the age of 50.
