Norwegian Escape Restarts Cruising in Europe

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) announced that Norwegian Escape, the first of the brand's Breakaway-Plus class, is now sailing in Europe for the first time since 2015. The ship restarted service with an eastern Mediterranean voyage. As NCL's largest ship in Europe, Norwegian Escape is also the first Breakaway-Plus class ship to sail a full-length European cruise season. Operating seven- to 11-night voyages, the ship is homeporting in Civitavecchia (Rome).

Norwegian Escape's summer itineraries include port calls in Italy, Greece, Malta, France and other countries. Docking at five to eight ports for up to 13 hours, guests will have plenty of opportunities for exploring ancient ruins, checking out the medieval architecture, visiting museums to see artistic masterpieces and tasting regional cuisine. Each itinerary has no more than two days at sea.

Wine, Beef & Sherry

Norwegian Escape will also debut NCL’s popular "Meet the Winemaker Series" in Europe, as the ship cruises around the Greek Isles and Italy.

The July 17, 2022, sailing will feature Certified Angus Beef on the menus as well as notable winemaker Antonio Hidalgo, from the family-owned Spanish Sherry house Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana. The October 17, 2022 cruise will be hosted by Sandro Bottega of Bottega S.p.A.

“Europe has always been a bucket list destination for travelers from all over the globe and is a key cruise destination for NCL,” says Harry Sommer, president and CEO, Norwegian Cruise Line.

He describes NCL's Europe season in 2022 as "our most extensive to date with eight ships and more than 100 ports of call."

Those eight ships that are sailing or will sail European waters this summer season include: Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Star and Norwegian Prima, the newest of NCL's ships and first in the new Prima Class
