Sailing Onboard the Carnival Sunshine

Our cruise editor, Susan J. Young, is sailing onboard the 3006-passenger Carnival Sunshine this week in the Mediterranean. Here are her first-hand shots of the ship, the former Carnival Destiny, which just received a $155 million transformation.

New features and facilities added include all the line's Fun Ship 2.0 dining, bar and entertainment updates. So guests now can chow down at Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina and RedFrog Pub, or enjoy "Habro, The Game Show" or the "Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez." One new alternative dining venue is the full-service Ji Ji Asian Kitchen.

Carnival Sunshine also boasts the fleet's first three-level Serenity adults-only relaxation area. WaterWorks, a water park with 40 interactive features, has a 334-foot Twister slide, the longest in the Carnival fleet. Accommodations-wise, the renovation added 182 new staterooms.

Through October, Carnival Sunshine will sail a summer schedule of Mediterranean cruises between Barcelona and Venice
