National Geographic Editor Joins Scenic Cruises Itinerary

Scenic Luxury Cruises has announced that Susan Goldberg, the Editor-in-Chief of National Geographic Magazine (first woman editor since its inception in 1888) and National Geographic Partners Editorial Director (in charge of all publishing ventures, including digital journalism, magazines, books, maps, children and family, and travel and adventure), is joining the May 25, 2019, 11-day Douro River Cruise. Under her leadership, National Geographic was a 2017 finalist for a Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting for its issue about gender. That same year they won a National Magazine Award for best single issue. Ms. Goldberg is also a board member for Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Joining Susan is Franklin Knight, the Leornard and Helen R. Stulman Professor Emeritus of History and Academy Professor at Johns Hopkins University, and National Geographic photographer, Krista Rossow, whose has used her camera as a tool for understanding new cultures, meeting the locals and exploring the natural world.

Other Scenic/National Geographic River Cruise itineraries include the Rhine, Danube and Main Rivers; through France’s Bordeaux region, and on the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar (Burma).
