Storms Cause Norwegian and Carnival to Adapt Itineraries

To avoid difficult weather conditions from Tropical Storm Lee, Norwegian Spirit, expected to disembark guests at New Orleans on Sunday, remained at sea instead. The ship arrived back in the Big Easy more than a day late on Monday night. Some guests disembarked the ship last evening, while others are getting off this morning.
As a result, embarkation for the Sept. 4 cruise on Norwegian Spirit  is starting two days later than planned -- at 11 a.m. today. The ship will sail at 5 p.m. today. Because of the multi-day delay, Norwegian Spirit will sail a revised itinerary calling in Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. Guests will receive a two-day refund based on the cruise fare paid as an onboard credit.
Along the Atlantic coast, Norwegian Gem departed from New York as planned on Sept. 4. But Norwegian changed the itinerary to provide what it called “a more comfortable and pleasant experience for our guests.” The ship is now sailing a Bahamas and Florida itinerary, instead of the planned Bermuda itinerary. Norwegian Gem will now call at Port Canaveral, FL (for Orlando) today, then at Great Stirrup Cay on Wednesday and Nassau on Thursday.
Due to the closure of the Port of Mobile, AL, over the weekend, Carnival Elation was unable to dock on Monday as scheduled and remained at sea. So that ship arrives today to begin the debarkation process.
For guests who had planned to board yesterday, Carnival Elation will operate a modified four-day itinerary departing Mobile on Tuesday and returning Saturday, with a day-long call at Cozumel, Mexico. Guests on the modified itinerary will receive a pro-rated refund equal to one day of their cruise fare.

Because of adverse weather conditions, Carnival Triumph arrived in New Orleans much later than expected on Monday. In the evening, guests began boarding for the next cruise, a five-day western Caribbean voyage. Departure was expected at about 11 p.m. last night. Carnival said the ship's itinerary, which includes port calls at Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico, is not expected to be impacted.
