Windstar Sets Booking Record

Windstar Cruises hit a record-breaking number of bookings last month.

The line has added 200 new ports of call, reaching a total of 330, and will embark on 50 new itineraries in 2020-21, including Australia/New Zealand cruises, the South Pacific IslandsCentral AmericaWestern Caribbean sailing from Miami, and smaller ports in Europe and Alaska. According to Windstar, strong consumer demand from repeat and new guests is the reason July prospered.

Windstar itineraries are, in part, defined by local exploration. According to the cruise line, they offer more time in port with late evening and overnight visits on 45 percent of itineraries, in addition to 2,500 shore excursions, including the Concierge Collection, designed around things to see like UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Last year, itineraries spread to Alaska, Canada/New England, and U.S. East Coast, the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan. New 2019 destinations include the U.S. West Coast and Mexico.

Additionally, Windstar’s $250 Million Star Plus Initiative has created new amenities on board upcoming vessels, adding 50 suites, two restaurants, a larger spa and fitness center, new retail space and more. Star Breeze will debut in February 2020, followed by Star Legend and Star Pride, in July and November (all now open for reservations). The project will up the capacity on each vessel to 312 guests (up from 212).
