Denihan Selected to Manage, Renovate Miami’s Royal Palm Hotel

Denihan Hospitality Group has been selected to manage the Royal Palm Hotel in Miami. The hotel, a 407-key property in South Beach, represents Denihan’s first entry to the Miami hotel market and its 14th property in four urban destinations. The hotel will undergo a complete renovation starting in 2011.

Denihan won the contract after Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc., did a thorough search of a diverse group of hotel brands and established independents. It was Denihan’s success managing the Affinia Liasion (Washington, D.C.) and The James New York (SoHo) that sealed the deal.

“Denihan’s perspective as owners makes them invaluable to us as operators, as they understand the essential timing and budget considerations associated with renovations and redevelopment,” said Art Buser, president and CEO of Sunstone. “Denihan impressed us greatly with the depth of their business intelligence about their customer, and they can leverage their strong existing international sales channels to supplement domestic demand.”

Denihan will operate the hotel as an independent before and during the renovations. Plans for the retooling of the hotel will be announced later this year.

Some of Denihan’s most recent projects include the debut of The James New York, a 114-key new build at Grand and Thompson streets in SoHo, New York, and The Surrey, which Denihan renovated and redesigned before reopening in September 2009 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
