As part of a $1 billion investment, Acapulco is planning to build XTASEA, the longest over-water zip line in the world.

The zip line will span over one mile above Puerto Marquez Bay. Starting at a height of 328 feet, it will reach speeds of 75 miles per hour. It’s set to open in 2017.

XTASEA is just one of 20 projects included in the “Master Plan” by Grupo Autofin that will be taking place in Acapulco. The plans also include renovations of the iconic Pierre Mundo Imperial and Princess Mundo Imperial, as well as the new developments Spa Tlalli, Turtle Dunes Golf Clubhouse, Gourmet Beach, Hotel Prince by Mundo Imperial, Hotel Marqués Boutique, Hotel Boutique Only You, Diamante Retirement Homes, Princess Medical Center, residence and luxury condominiums, a premium shopping center, an eco-amusement park called Aventura Guerrero, a tennis stadium, security towers, and Princess University

The projects are expected to be completed between 2017 and 2022 and will generate more than 10,000 new jobs.

The destination will also see a new state-of-the-art airport terminal – a $30 million investment by Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte, which will allow for an additional 1.3 million passengers per year. This is a 30 percent increase from the current terminal.
