Amsterdam’s Hotel De L’Europe Appoints New Culinary Team

Amsterdam's Hotel De L’Europe has recently named Richard van Oostenbrugge executive chef, responsible for each of the restaurants, lounges, and seven private dining rooms. Stephan van Tilburg is the hotel’s new director of food and beverage. As a team they will oversee Bord'Eau, Freddy's Bar, Hoofdstad Brasserie, Promenade and The Terras (which will re-open in spring 2011).

Chef Richard van Oostenbrugge started in Gstaad, Switzerland, and has most recently worked at Restaurant Envy on the Prinsen Canal in Amsterdam. "It has always been my dream to have the creative freedom over several kitchens," he says about his new appointment. "There is a lot of room for my personal interpretation of dining at different levels, from fine to casual. We must also please both our local patrons and guests from across the globe. It will be an exciting challenge."

Stephan van Tilburg is equally enthusiastic about his appointment, noting: "This is a wonderful opportunity to develop and implement a completely new concept for the restaurants of Hotel De L'Europe, and really that of the entire city.” Van Tilburg previously worked at the St. Regis in Singapore and New York City’s Waldorf = Astoria.
