Atlantis Reveals Roster of Interactive Camp for Children

From American Idol alums Kimberley Locke and Scott MacIntyre to members of Cartoon Network Studios, Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in The Bahamas aims to bring talent that re-defines the concept of summer camp, taking the resort's 2012 Camp Roster to new levels of educational entertainment and fun.

Beginning June 25 through August 17, the four-night/five-day 2012 Atlantis Camps invite attendees ages 6 and up, to pursue their dreams with a variety of different "edutainment" camp programs suited to specific age groups and interests starting from $495 per person, not inclusive of room cost.

In addition to the daily camp activities, campers will have access to various Atlantis offerings including the state-of-the-art 8,000 square-foot kids club AKA (Atlantis Kids Adventures), the $11-million teen club CRUSH and an open-air marine habitat featuring more than 50,000 marine animals at Atlantis.

Atlantis prepares for a new kind of musical competition experience with AUDITION STAR: Make The Most Of Your Singing Talent summer camp June 25 – 30. Fans of American Idol, The Voice and The X Factor ages 14 - 28 will have a chance to work with behind-the-scenes experts featuring special guests American Idol finalists Locke and MacIntyre. Campers will receive advice from various industry mentors including vocal lessons from American Idol coach Peisha McPhee, music direction from American Idol's associate music director Michael Orland and style tips from celebrity stylist Miles Siggins.

The workshop, facilitated by music journalist and frequent American Idol guest Fred Bronson, will include a finale performance in the Atlantis Theater featuring all camp participants. After auditioning for the mentors, one singer will be named the winner of AUDITION STAR. The prize package includes an American Idol surprise invitation from Orland and McPhee; a one-hour vocal coaching session with McPhee, a one-hour coaching session with Orland, a shopping day in Los Angeles with Siggins, a collection of personally signed CDs by various American Idol finalists to the winner and a $100 dining certificate compliments of Outback Steakhouse.

At Cartoon Network Studios Fantasy Camp, aspiring cartoonists ages 6 -14 are invited to learn the fundamentals of animation August 6 -10. Campers will immerse themselves in animation technology, basic hand drawing techniques, flip book basics, creating characters, voice-acting, and so much more all guided by experts from Cartoon Network's Emmy Award-winning animation studios.

Coming August 6 -10, Atlantis Cheerleading Camp hosted by the United States Cheerleading Association (USCA), will teach campers dynamic stunts, cheers and choreography. Campers 6 -18 will enjoy a specially crafted amenities package as well as an exclusive party at CRUSH.

Another new camp to the 2012 roster is the StoryTellers Scrapbooking Camp: Imagine~ Design ~ Create. Hosted by the "World's Best Scrapbook Club," the camp includes workshops for both traditional and digital scrapbookers wishing to learn new techniques, work with the latest products and get inspired. Also included are unique workshops such as hands on photography, bag tags, jewelry making, cropping sessions, games and more. The minimum age requirement is 13 to adult from July 30 - August 3.

The LEGO Master Builder Academy Fantasy Camp offers kids the opportunity to work alongside a LEGO Master Builder to learn various building tips to develop their building skills with epic LEGO masterpieces. The LEGO Master Builder Academy Fantasy Camp is July 23 – 26 for children ages 6 - 12.

Those campers with hopes of becoming aquarists in the future, the celebrated Atlantis Marine Adventure Camp is back for another year with four sessions: July 2 - 6, July 16 - 20, July 30 - August 3 and Aug. 13 – 17. Campers will gain behind-the-scenes access with the resort's Seakeeper and Marine Mammal Teams to learn how to prep food, participate in feedings and care for marine life with tips from professionals. Junior aquarists will also participate in a guided Shark Walk with Stuarts Cove and Blue Adventure Snorkel Trip and to observe and learn how to protect these natural habitats.

The fourth annual Miss Teen USA Fantasy Camp at Atlantis is a pageant preparation program endorsed by the Miss Universe Organization, which will take place the week of July 24 – 29 leading up to the 2012 MISS Teen USA pageant on July 28. This camp provides prospective pageant competitors with a behind-the-scenes look at the components necessary to become a national titleholder or even Miss Teen USA. The six-day/five-night Miss Teen USA Fantasy Camp is $1,250 per camper, providing the campers with room accommodations, various activities, three meals a day, a meet and greet with the current Miss Teen USA, and VIP access to the presentation and pageant and more.
