Young boy learning to skiBeaver Creek Resort, in partnership with Blue Creek Productions, is hosting its second annual WinterFest holiday season celebration. As part of the resort’s popular Beaver Creek Loves Kids programming, WinterFest will be held now through Jan. 5, 2013. The two-week long celebration features everything from parades to winter characters to disco skate night.

“We are incredibly excited to bring back WinterFest this holiday season at Beaver Creek,” says Tim Baker, executive director of the Beaver Creek Resort Company. “We’re happy to bring back all of the favorite elements from last year along with new events this year. To be a part of these families’ holiday traditions means a lot and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to help create memories and traditions for our guests with our WinterFest celebration."

Not to be missed this year are the ice sculpture demos with Paul Wertin on Dec. 28. 2012. Paul carves amazing ice creations in front of an audience and often makes personalized ice sculptures for kids in attendance. Also of note is the Beaver Creek’s Got Talent competition in the plaza on Jan. 3, 2013, where kids can enter to participate and share their vocal talents.

“This is a truly magical event,” states Brian Hall of Blue Creek Productions. “We combine elements of theatre with holiday spirit to create a wonderful and exciting experience for families. The entire Beaver Creek Plaza becomes a theatrical setting with all the lights, sounds, colors and characters of the holidays and winter coming to life for the kids. It is a great experience for everyone and we can’t wait to bring it back this season.”

Popular elements of the festival return such as the daily Winter Wonder Parade which departs from the Plaza Stage at 4 p.m. and makes its way around the ice rink. Winter characters including the Snow Princess, Old Man Winter, Scurry and Snowflake, will be back and they can be seen throughout the festivities.

Beaver Creek Loves Teens Too is also part of WinterFest featuring programming for teens. It provides an opportunity  to socialize through specially planned activities including a teens-only showshoe and pizza party, a ski and snowboard trick class and an evening of tubing at Adventure Ridge.
