Bocas del Toro Opens Tourist Information Center, Announces New Tourism Portal

The Bocas Sustainable Tourism Alliance (BSTA) has officially opened its new Tourist Information Center and launched an innovative web portal for the destination.

Bocas del Toro, Panama is one of the lesser-known Central American destinations, therefore the travel planning resources on the website and in the visitor center provide a much-needed one-stop information service for travelers.

The focus is on Bocas del Toro’s unique and authentic tourism attractions; from accommodations to tours and travel services, all businesses and indigenous community groups highlighted on the site incorporate a sustainable tourism component.

BSTA’s consumer website highlights the region’s finest beaches, details the best tours and activities for travelers, describes the range of wildlife to be spotted, and provides background on the cultural uniqueness of the archipelago—including information on the many indigenous communities that call the Bocas home.

Member enterprises of the BSTA—including restaurants, hotels, cultural groups, artists and tour providers—showcase their services on the website. The new Tourist Information Center is located in downtown Bocas Town, on Isla Colon in Bocas del Toro.

The center is a hub for visitors and community members to congregate and learn about the latest initiatives the BSTA is undertaking to preserve the geographic character of Bocas del Toro. It offers bookings with BSTA member hotels, restaurants, indigenous communities, rainforest reserves, and tour operators. The Information Center also educates visitors about local culture and includes a rotating exhibit featuring regional artists.
