As part of our “Caribbean - Open for Business” series, in which we profile the hottest selling points for Caribbean islands that were not majorly impacted by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane MariaTravel Agent breaks down Grenada's most popular accommodations.

We also break down two new hotels on the horizon, as well as some new tour offerings for active Millennial clients looking for some Instagram moments in Grenada.

The Most Popular Accommodations in Grenada

Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel

In no particular order, here's a quick breakdown of some of the island's trendiest hotels and villas, as well as details on two hotels expected to make a splash when they open in the near future.

Spice Island Beach Resort

The first and only AAA Five-Diamond resort in Grenada and a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection, Spice Island Beach Resort is a luxury, all-inclusive, boutique property.

Many of the suites have their own pool and outdoor terraces. All 64 accommodations have luxurious amenities, aromatherapy and a stocked mini bar.

Set along the beachfront are the resort’s restaurants, Oliver’s and Sea and Surf Terrace & Bar, serving authentic local specialties and international favorites. The resort also has a full-service spa, Janissa’s Spa.

Adding to its therapeutic offerings, the hotel underwent a recent resort-wide renovation that included the unveiling of a Yoga pavilion overlooking the Grand Anse Beach

Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel

The fifth hotel in the Caribbean to receive the prestigious Relais & Châteaux honor, Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel comprises 30 suites and five estate homes arranged around eight acres of gardens facing L’anse Aux Epines beach.

It is proudly home to two popular restaurants in Grenada, Rhodes Restaurant and The Beach Club. The hotel’s Spa at Calabash offers holistic treatments and restorative yoga.

Sandals LaSource Grenada

Sandals LaSource Grenada, which continues to be one of Travel Agent’s favorite Sandals Resorts International property, is a great fit for Millennials looking for soft adventure on an impressive spot of beach.

Some recommended room categories for couples retreats or girls’ and guys’ getaways include the SkyPool Butler Suites, which has two Tranquility Soaking Tubs and an infinity-edge plunge pool on the balcony.

For even greater privacy and exclusivity, the Rondoval Suites and the Millionaire Suites are designed like exotic private villas, complete with a personal butler, soaking tubs and plunge pools with privacy curtains.

Stand-alone Villas

For a vacation completely secluded from other travelers, Grenada’s luxury villas are the ideal option. Villas are sprinkled around the island in the mountains, by the beach and on hilltops.

Ultra-privacy can be had at the exclusive Calivigny Island off Grenada’s coast, where guests have a choice between two large villas and three beachfront cottages for up to 50 guests in total.

The private island has a heated fresh water pool, swim-up bar, giant portable movie screen with hi-definition projector, tennis court, jogging paths, and every water toy the mind can dream. Butler and maid service is included with a private chef and 24-hour staff availability.

Silversands Grenada

Opening in March on Grand Anse Beach, Silversands will have 43 suites and nine residential villas for purchase dotted along the beach and amid the hillside above. It lays claim to the longest swimming pool in the Caribbean, fit for swimming laps or simply bathing and looking on at its infinity edges.

Guests and villa owners will have access to the Silversands Spa, offering locally-inspired treatments, a beach club with a resident DJ delivering swanky tunes and two restaurants serving globally-inspired cuisine.

Silversands is also now a part of the Leading Hotels of the World.

Kimpton Kawana Bay Resort

Kimpton Kawana Bay is expected to open in October 2019. The hillside retreat will be located between vegetation and Grand Anse Beach, where guests can enjoy an infinity pool, a chef-driven restaurant, a lounge and beach bar, fitness center, spa and water sports facilities.

The 146-key resort will be comprised of 101 luxury studio rooms, 45 suites (with some featuring private pools overlooking the beach), and 12 additional penthouse apartments available for purchase.

New Tours and Excursions

Sun Hunters, Grenada’s newest destination tour company, is providing visitors an opportunity to discover the island with new dune buggy island tours. The company offers scenic off-road excursions - in the newest model Polaris RZR two-seater - along coastal and mountainous trails with stops at local hotspots for refreshments. Drivers will explore historical and natural sites including the Annandale Waterfall and nearby rainforest.

Calypso Island, a small off-shore island located near Halifax Harbour, is Grenada’s newest “hot-spot” for dining, water sports and viewing sunsets. The private eco-island is only accessible by boat and features five decks as well as a restaurant and bar for lunch and dinner. Sailing, snorkel tours, and private catamaran charters are also available through partner, Carib Cats.

The new "Savor the Spice" tour introduces the destination's spices and culinary delights to the visitor. Savor the Spice offers four authentic tours in which one can either savor the best food in the city, sip and enjoy our local beverages, travel the countryside and expand one’s palate or have a private session to learn and participate in the preparation of a traditional three-course authentic Grenadian meal.

A Pair of Cool Pools in Grenada

Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club

Millennials looking for a place to cool off in Grenada should take a plunge in the pool at Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club.

This classically-shaped, oblong pool is located in the open-air interior of the hotel, but situated to the side for privacy. Dotted with charming and colorful loungers and umbrellas, this cozy pool looks over the lobby and is conveniently located by the hotel's main bar.

Advisors should note that the pool area can be rented out for events and parties. The hotel often hosts local live music that can also be arranged for private functions. At least three months notice should be given for reservations, which can be arranged by e-mailing [email protected].

Since there is the onsite Dive Grenada, the island’s leading scuba and diving shop located at the hotel’s beach, scuba lessons are conducted at the pool.

The hotel bar is located right next to the pool, where guests can order an array of tropical or classic libations like Mount Cinnamon’s Rum Punch topped with local nutmeg. Snacks and small bites are also offered from hotel’s popular Savvy’s Restaurant. Order up the signature Seafood Trio of Seared Tuna, Coconut Shrimp and Lump Crab Salad.

Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club is located just 15 minutes from Maurice Bishop International Airport. Eight new luxe Cinnamon Suites debuted in 2017 and offer chic accommodations with views across the bay to the capital of St. George’s.

Millennials with a taste for luxury all-inclusives will love the popular Spice Island Beach Resort, which we previously mentioned as one of Grenada's hottest hotels. The all-inclusive luxury beachfront resort on Grand Anse beach is equipped with a private pool area, which is set within greenery surrounding the patio.

A poolside bar is within mere steps from the pool for guests who wish to enjoy signature cocktail creations while sunbathing. For extra privacy, the resort offers 64 breezy beachfront suites, many of which are equipped with a private plunge pool or swimming pool.

Whether you're savoring the classic cuisine and more formal ambience of Oliver's or the casual, toes-in-the-sand vibe of the Sea and Surf Terrace & Bar, Millennials who worked up a solid appetite after a good swim will enjoy authentic local specialties and international favorites.

Who to Pitch Grenada to?

With 50 beaches, 15 waterfalls, numerous hiking trails, 30 dive sites including the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean, ‘Bianca C’, and the world’s first Underwater Sculpture Park, Grenada is a great fit for active Millennials, including couples retreats and small family gatherings.
