alaskaAt the recent Alaska Media Roadshow, Travel Agent learned that CIRI Alaska Tourism is set to offer the company's first escorted group tour, which goes on sale November 1.

CIRI decided to add the escorted group tour to the company's customized unescorted packages based on feedback from industry partners, CIRI Director of Marketing Dee Buchanon told Travel Agent.

"We had a partner of ours that really wanted to work with us on it, and we wanted to sell into some of our lighter days, so we built a package around days with more availability," Buchanon said. "People have been calling us and asking for escorted tours and guaranteed departures."

The new tour, which is a guaranteed departure, is an eight-day, seven-night itinerary that includes stays at the Anchorage Marriott or Hilton, Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, Grande Denali or McKinley Village and Seward Windsong Lodge. The tour cost includes seven breakfasts, one lunch, one snack and two dinners.

CIRI will offer five departure dates in 2014: May 19-26, June 2-9, June 30-July 7, July 28- Aug 4 and September 1-8.
