De Niro to Invest in Dominican Republic Tourism

Dominican Tourism Minister Felix Jiménez is on record as saying he's had discussions with De Niro, in which De Niro outlined plans to invest in local tourism, in Pedernales to the southwest of the country, or in Montecristi, to the northwest. Last year, Robert De Niro helmed the film project The Good Shepherd--a Cold War drama that was partially shot in the Dominican Republic. It seems the Caribbean destination made an impression on the celebrated actor. The Dominican Republic is popular with celebrities seeking sites for either tourism investment or second homes. De Niro joins a list that includes such luminaries as Charlie Rose, Oscar de la Renta, Julio Iglesias and Moby. Visit [www.godominicanrepublic.com].
