Egypt Experiences Record Visits From U.S. Travelers

The Egyptian Tourist Authority reported that Americans are visiting Egypt in record numbers this year. Visitor numbers in 2006 are up 20.9 percent over 2005, and in May alone, the country experienced a 16.3 percent increase in U.S. travelers compared to May 2005. The Egyptian Tourism Authority has a strategic plan to double visitor numbers from 8 million in 2004 to 16 million in 2014.
