Five Major Tourism Developments Opening in Qatar

Qatar Tourism has revealed that a range of new tourism developments will open across the country before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 kicks off in November. The country aims to capitalize on the influx of over one million visitors expected for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and showcase its hidden treasures.

Among the five major upcoming openings in the country is Winter Wonderland, scheduled for an opening later this year. Travelers can able to relax on the beach under average temperatures in the hihg-70s Fahrenheit. The island will have seafront chalets, restaurants, festival games, 50 rides and cafés, bringing the festive spirit to the Middle East. Situated near Lusail City just north of Doha, Qatar’s capital, the upcoming 49-acre attraction will be operated by International Marketing Group (IMG), the same company that manages Winter Wonderland in London’s Hyde Park each year.

Fuwairit Kite Beach (FKB) is a kite beach resort located in the coastal village of Fuwairit. The village is an hour’s drive north of Doha and offers ideal kitesurfing conditions. The resort is designed around the kitesurfer’s lifestyle and will also include a yoga studio, gym, restaurants and pool, to name a few.

The Outpost Al Barari will integrate close-to-nature experiences, sustainability and luxury hospitality into one resort in the Khor Al-Adaid nature reserve. Surrounded by sand dunes and desert wilderness, the resort will feature 21 luxury lodges with private pools. Guests can enjoy stargazing, hot air ballooning and immersive desert walks where they can learn about the local wildlife. “Emerge in Nature” spa treatments and culinary experiences will also be available.

Dubbed the first “Entertainment Island” in Qatar, Qetaifan Island North will have floating hotels, beach clubs and a water park with 36 rides – including “The Icon Tower” zone, with a 279-foot-high slide. Set over nearly 14 million square feet, the island is close to the Lusail Stadium, where the final of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be held.

West Bay North Beach is an extensive new tourism development being constructed, covering 430,556 square feet of beachfront in the heart of Doha. The public and private beach areas will also offer three beach experiences with a range of F&B outlets.

There will also be lots of exciting events in Qatar after the FIFA World Cup 2022. The country will host a Qatar Formula 1 Grand Prix for at least a decade from 2023, along with the new Geneva International Motorshow Qatar.
