Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has announced it will open Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah, Baa Atoll in late 2016. The property will be the first private island in the company's portfolio and the world's only exclusive-use UNESCO destination located in a World Biosphere Reserve.

Set across five acres, the island's Beach House, Dive Centre, Oceans of Consciousness Spa and 62-foot yacht will extend to the Maldives' only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and can accommodate up to 22 guests.

Experiences at Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah were all designed with a focus on the surrounding UNESCO territory. Four Seasons developed Voavah in close coordination with local environmental consultancies in an effort to ensure proper maintenance of the “balance between man and nature, culture and conservation – in keeping with the prerequisites of the Atoll's UNESCO Biosphere designation.”

The Beach House will offer an open-air living room, dining room, kitchen, pool deck, gym, library and loft lounge, while seven bedrooms span three separate locations: on the beach, over the lagoon and in the Mezzanine Suites. Dining on the island will be tailored to individual preferences, meal by meal, either poolside, at the Beach House dining room, or at the water's edge.

The property’s 62-foot private yacht, Voavah Summer, allows guests the opportunity to go diving with whale sharks, snorkel with manta rays, or swim with turtles and fish. The vessel also allows for trips to nearby islands, surfing, and taking in views of Baa Atoll sunsets.

The Oceans of Consciousness Spa will have over-water spa therapies and rituals, yoga, meditation and pranayama classes. High-end beauty treatments and a Rossano Ferretti hair consultant will also be available.

The island is accessible via a 40-minute seaplane transfer from Malé International Airport, or a 20-minute speedboat ride from Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru. Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah will be the fourth addition to the company's Maldives collection, including Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, and Four Seasons Explorer.
