Hyatt and Others Expand in Russia

Hyatt Hotels & Resorts plans to open four new hotels in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States over the next three years, taking up residence in a country filled with stiff competition.

In the works are a Park Hyatt, a Grand Hyatt and two Hyatt Regency properties, meant to accommodate a growing number of luxury travelers to Russia. “Russia is an emerging market economy, which is set to offer substantial growth and great future potential,” said Thierry Bertin, Hyatt’s director of marketing in the area. Hyatt already has five hotels in the region with the upcoming openings in Yekaterinburg, Tbilissi, Moscow and Dushanbe.

Other hoteliers popping up in the region include the recently opened Ritz-Carlton Moscow and the Four Seasons Moscow, which also will open its property at the end of next year, or early 2009.
