It was just about a year ago that Travel Agent toured the grounds of what was soon-to-be Sonesta St. Maarten’s new luxury all-inclusive, Sonesta Ocean Point Resort.
Our guide for last year’s “hard hat” tour of the property, Eliska Hesova, Sonesta St. Maarten’s director of business development, told us the goal of the new property was to help Sonesta elevate to the next level of luxury-included resorts, much like Sandals Resorts International recently accomplished with the launch of its game-changing Sandals LaSource Grenada.
And after seeing the finished product during our recent coverage of the St. Martin/St. Maarten Annual Regional Trade Show (SMART), Travel Agent can say, “Welcome to the new next level, Sonesta.”
The five-star Sonesta Ocean Point Resort was everything Hesova promised it would be and more. This all-suite resort sits on the southernmost point of the island, adjacent to the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino, offering some incredible views of the beach and the commercial airplanes that fly just past it.
After a multi-million dollar renovation to the former Ocean Terrace building, the 129-room Sonesta Ocean Point emerged as a sophisticated, adults-only, all-inclusive resort. Your clients' personalized luxury experience commences even before arrival, where they can contact the butler team to provide special requests, dietary needs, and arrival time. Upon arrival, a cell phone is provided allowing them to relay requests directly to their butler.
Sonesta Ocean Point joins sister property, the adults-only Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort Casino & Spa, in offering butler service after the resort’s demand for its Miramar one and two-bedroom Butler Suites.
The resort features three pools, including The Edge infinity pool with a private beach on the cliff, a Swim-Out pool connected to Swim-Out Suites, and The Point Pool.
Also exclusive to guests, there are three bars and lounges, including the Sunset Lounge & Bar, Azul Rooftop Bar for private functions and the contemporary lobby cafe and bar, 18.63.
The property also features the Mediterranean-influenced Azul restaurant; an in-resort flagship Wanderlista Boutique selling carefully-curated resort wear and accessories from around the world, and other resort exclusivities and amenities, such as 24-hour room service, intimate gazebos, private cabanas, a dedicated open-air wellness area and an on-property organic garden.
Sonesta Ocean Point is also suited to accommodate weddings and other special events with a 10-acre oceanfront location, numerous venues to host weddings include the beach, a wedding gazebo overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the Azul Rooftop, exclusive to Ocean Point guests.
