Interview: What’s New in Telluride This Ski Season

Recently Travel Agent got a chance to chat with Tom Watkinson, director of communications at Visit Telluride, about what’s new at the destination this upcoming ski season. Watch our conversation here.

Most notable is a host of new flight options into the destination, with low-cost carrier Allegiant Airlines offering twice weekly direct flights from Denver International Airport to Telluride/Montrose airport from December 17, 2016, through March 25, 2017. Also on December 17, Great Lakes Airlines will reinstate commercial air service to Telluride Airport (TEX). Great Lakes will operate year-round flights from Denver to TEX, with an average of 10 flights per week — daily during slower periods and twice per day or more during busier times of the year.

This winter also marks the 10th anniversary of Wagner Custom Skis, as well as the opening of Pete Wagner’s newest ski factory. Assembled by hand in Telluride, Wager Skis use a proprietary code to match the skis to the individual weight and strength of each skier.
