Japan Airlines Upgrades, Adds Flights

Starting October 25, Japan Airlines began offering Boeing 777-300ER service on its daily nonstop flights between Chicago-Tokyo (JL009/010) and Los Angeles-Tokyo (JL061/062). The new four-class service was first introduced in summer 2008 on the carrier's New York-Tokyo (JL005/006 only) and San Francisco-Tokyo routes.

Leading-edge seat products, including the JAL SUITE in First Class, are highlights in the cabin's interior. Upholstered in comfortable leather with 5-inch-wide, thickly padded armrests, each seat is reminiscent of a traditional lounge chair and has convenient one-touch buttons allow for custom positioning. The leather ottoman, which doubles as guest seating, completes the bed. For added comfort, a custom-fitted Tempur mattress is placed atop by the cabin crew along with a down comforter and choice of pillow.

Seats in JAL Executive Class–Seasons have also been redesigned for added comfort, privacy and functionality. The seat's controls have also been repositioned for easier access and visibility. Large, 15.4-inch TV monitors have also been incorporated as well as additional storage and larger privacy panels.

JAL Premium Economy will now be available on JAL's Chicago and Los Angeles routes with the introduction of the new aircraft. Located in its own exclusive cabin area, JAL Premium Economy features the award-winning JAL Sky Shell Seat, which offers 20 percent more legroom than standard economy. The seat's clever shell-shaped slide-down design ensures that each passenger's private space is maintained throughout the flight, undisturbed even when the seat in front is reclined. For added comfort, the seat offers a footrest and a fully adjustable headrest. In addition to complimentary access to JAL lounges prior to travel, JAL Premium Economy customers also receive inflight amenities that are offered to JAL's business-class customers including eye masks, slippers and toothbrush sets.

New Economy Class seats have also been installed on the 777-300ER and boast a "Hammock Headrest" for added comfort. In addition, seatbacks are fitted with 9-inch personal TV screens for customers to enjoy audio-visual-on-demand (AVOD) inflight entertainment.
