Karisma Hotels & Resorts' Big Plans for Jamaica

The success of Azul Sensatori Jamaica (above) in Negril has prompted Karisma Hotels & Resorts to aggressively expand in Jamaica.

Ever since Karisma Hotels & Resorts expanded to the Caribbean about two years ago in the form of Azul Sensatori Jamaica in Negril, the hotel has been booked solid. Because of that success, the company is not only looking to build a second hotel in Jamaica, it is practically building a new destination in the country.

At the recently-concluded Gourmet Inclusive Vacation Consultants (GIVC) Awards and Sales & Marketing Forum in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, Mandy Chomat, vice president of sales and marketing for Karisma Hotels & Resorts, unveiled the company's aggressive plans for 11 hotels spanning 6,900 rooms in Jamaica.

Dubbed "Sugarcane," the resort that will house most of the company's Jamaica hotels represents an investment of more than $100 million, Rafael Feliz, Jr., corporate brand manager for Premier Worldwide Marketing, told Travel Agent back in July. Sugarcane is located in the parish of St. Ann and is about 40 minutes from the Montego Bay airport. It is also 10 minutes from the famous Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios. Chomat says it will be the only area in the Caribbean with such a concentration of luxury hotels.
