Mantis Group Offering Day-Trips to Antarctica This Winter

Emperor PenguinsThis November 29, Mantis Group, a group of five-star boutique accommodation and game reserves in South Africa and Europe, is offering a day trip to Antarctica. Staying at the only property on the ice in the continent, the trip includes a training day November 28, roundtrip flights from Cape Town International Airport, polar clothing and boots, and all in-flight food and beverages and activities upon arrival. Seats in the main cabin are $9,670, and VIP seating is $14,505.

During the safety briefing November 28, travelers will be informed and equipped with polar clothing boots. Upon arriving in Antarctica, they will go to the White Desert camp— overlooking the Shirmacher Oasis— where, over the eight-hour day, they can ease into the sauna at the Russian base, visit the penguins, check out the ice grottos and step across the mountainous landscape. Then, they wil enjoy a gourmet champagne lunch on the ice, before heading home.

Guests may opt to extend their trip with the White Lions add-on, including two nights at Mantis' Last Word property in Cape Town before heading out to Antarctica and another night following their return; two nights at the five-star Sanbona Wildlife Reserve resort in Little Karoo, South Africa, where they will get to see elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions and leopards and the only free-roaming White Lions in the world; and a sunset cruise in The Princess Emma, an 85-foot luxury yacht. The White Lions Itinerary is $3,117 and includes accomodations, on-safari food and beverage (excluding premium brands), a massage at Sanbona, breakfast at the Last Word and the cruise.
