Maroma Resort and Spa Debuts Maya Dining Concept

Travelers looking to learn more about Mayan culture should check out Maroma Resort and Spa in Mexico. The resort has launched a new dining concept, Aldea Maya, designed to immerse guests in the experience of Mayan culture.

Aldea Maya, which translates to "Mayan Village," sits beachside in Riviera Maya. The themed menu highlights the region's signature flavors and is inspired by the four basic elements thought by the Mayans to be the building blocks of the universe. Using only locally sourced ingredients, dishes such as Black Bean Stew with Sour Cactus Fruit Salsa and the Lion Fish cooked with a Banana Leaf and a Mint, Tomatillo and Local Citrus Salsa are prepared over an open flame using clay pots and pans.

A portion of the Aldea Maya proceeds will be used to create and promote ecological and educational programs that will directly benefit the local Mayan communities.
