Marriott Opens Its 500th Property

Fifty-two years after Marriott Hotels & Resorts' inception, the company is celebrating with a milestone - it's 500th hotel.

The 416-room Pune Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre opened in Pune, India, which is a growing educational and cultural center just three hours from Mumbai.

The guest rooms and suites all have high-definition LCD televisions, wireless internet, iHome docking stations, mini-refrigerators and headboard reading lights.

Like every Marriott Hotel, the Pune has its M.I. Greatroom, a new approach the lobby concept combining innovative design, technology and food and beverage options. These dining options around the lobby include a day-to-night bar, serving continental breakfast in the morning and beverages at night; Spice Kitchen, an all-day dining restaurant; and Pune Baking Company, a deli for gourmet coffee, pastries and snacks. There are six other venues, including Paasha, a rooftop Indian restaurant and night club; Shakahari, an international vegetarian restaurant; Alto Vino, offering Italian fare; and Bar 101, a whiskey and cigar bar.

The Pune Marriott also has a 10,000-square-foot Quan Spa, with 13 treatment rooms and a full-circuit fitness center.
