Sen. Allen Chastanet, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, will lead Saint Lucia's delegation to the 2011 edition of Caribbean Marketplace, set to place at the new Montego Bay Convention Centre in Jamaica from January 16-18.
Chastanet will assume the helm of the delegation as his ministry continues to emphasize the importance of the sector to the island's socio-economic development.
"Tourism will continue to drive our nation's economy this year and our strong delegation at the premier travel and tourism event represents Saint Lucia's intention to retain and enhance our worldwide reputation as a first class destination," Chastanet said in a written statement.
Chastanet said the team bound for Jamaica would include members of the Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association, "the people whose properties, attractions, tour companies, and exceptional staff keep Saint Lucia's tourism offerings at the very top of international destination polls."
Included in the Saint Lucia team are Director of Tourism Louis Lewis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board Nerdin St. Rose, and experienced North American sales executive Lorine St. Jules.
